Till & orders
Close the till
Count the drawer at the start, and record the drawer and the card machine at the end of the day.
The day has a count at the start and a count at the end. The difference is what the Z report shows.
Start of day
Count the float in the drawer before service and enter it on the till. No-sale openings of the drawer are logged from then on.
Through the day
Sales record who took them, because each order follows a PIN. Card takings are whatever your card machine took. The till does not process the card.
A deposit taken off a bill, from table reservations, shows on the Z as deposits. Room payments taken online are not in the drawer.
End of day
- Count the cash in the drawer.
- Enter the card-machine total.
- Close the day. The difference between what was expected and what you counted is on the Z.
- Reprint the Z later from the same place if you need another copy.
Food and drink can print in the kitchen and at the bar during the day. Closing the till does not change those printers. Test a printer from the till if a ticket did not come out.
Daily takings sync back, so the takings record fills itself.
