Tabs and split bills
Keep a named tab, split a bill by item, and keep the tip separate from a discount.
A tab is an open bill with a name. A split is that bill divided by item. Both happen on the same till.
A tab
Save the open sale against a name. The tab list shows how many are open, what is outstanding, and what has been taken today. Bring a tab back to add another round, then take payment or charge it to a room.
Tables work the same way from the floor plan: covers, the open bill, and pay at that table. You can hand the tablet over for the guest to pay, or send a payment link. The card is still taken by your card machine, or by the link, not by a processor built into the till.
Split by item
Split the bill by item when people are paying separately. Move the lines onto each person’s bill. Each one is paid on its own.
Tips and discounts
A tip can be card or cash, and a tip can be split. A discount never changes the tip. A price change in pounds asks for a reason.
Staff drinks have their own button and are recorded against a person. A refund, of one item or the whole sale, is for a manager. It can be cash, card or Apple Pay. A refund receipt prints, and the reason is recorded.
When the bill is done, print it, reprint it, or email it. The receipt can carry your logo.
