Pay tips fairly
Card tips come from the till. Cash is entered by hand. The tronc statement is the one the Tips Act requires.
Tips recorded on the till can be shared out under the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023. The longer explanation of the Act is in the tronc guide. This is the short version of the buttons.
What the till already has
Card tips taken on a bill are pulled from the till. Cash tips are entered by hand. A tip can be split at the time of the sale, and a discount does not change the tip. See Tabs and split bills.
Calculate, review, finalise
- Calculate the share for the period.
- Review the amounts and who they go to.
- Finalise to produce the dated tronc statement the Act requires.
Payroll reports themselves, hours and pay for a date range, are a separate step and are on Professional and above. We produce the report and a CSV. We do not run payroll or file RTI.
A rate change is dated, so shifts before that date keep the old rate.
